Just Like Their AA, AAA, And C Cell Cousins, Laptop Batteries Create An Electrochemical Reaction That Forces A Stream Of Electrons From One Place To Another. And Just Like Household Batteries, Laptop Batteries Have A Positive And Negative Terminal Where Electrons Are Received And Sent, Respectively.

It really irritating when in between typing on a important mail suddenly the laptops starts beeping indicating low battery and unfortunately u dont have a power cord.

Laptop PCs need longer battery life. I used a flash-disk based laptop for much of the ’90s and loved its 10-hour laptop battery life. You just have so much more freedom when you don’t need to worry about keeping a laptop battery charged.
I’ve been very interested in how flash drives could extend notebook battery life. Using a Kill-a-watt power meter I ran some experiments with an Intel Core Duo notebook. Power use is a little more complex than I’d thought. Here’s what I found.

What about electric cars? If a battery with a lifespan of 30 years is possible, I don’t see any problem using the exact same battery to power an electric car after your laptop is retired.

There was also mention of it being used in cell phones and the like. But that encounters the same problem. As for DFo90 applications, I’m not aware of any, but that would be a good idea, for say, a power generator or light source. Hmm…

Great stuff, Paul… thanks for breaking it down! Hey, to your knowlegde what are the other immediate applications of this battery… that is beyond computers…. any “Designing for the other 90%” concepts for this new technology?
