Clipper had one prototype in Medicine Bow,Wy and it never operated at anywhere near 50%. The wind industry in 2006 became really hot and escalated in 07 in which clipper decided rather than have a successful prototype they would just sell what they had untested and untrue simply boasting they had the biggest unit at 2.5MW. With a hot market for wind energy they were able sell them fairly quick only to encounter major gear box issues coupled with assorted other issues. This all steams from extreme lack of quality or quality inspectors or any consideration at all for the consumer or investment groups, something they still practice today in 2009. I was there folks and saw it all from day one in the early days until 2009 with my departure. Do not buy into this product or this company you will loose everything you invest! Poor product, poor design, poor company, do not invest or you will most certainly loose your money!

I just ran across this site, my goodness are you mistaken! I am a past employee of Clipper and spent three years with this company that continually compromises quality in there product! I found it very unfortunate the philosophy was to just move the product out the door with no emphasis on quality. This unit has far to many gears in which the Gear Box that holds 4 generators has and always will be a high maintenance unit with far to much down time and incurable issues. Good grief they are putting those same principals into there off shore unit. This is yesterdays technology and couple that with lack of quality and inspectors that are completely untrained, educated or qualified creates a certain failure! Research this fully and you will understand. The management is appalling and imminent failure will follow, as well it should! Let me know if you want more information from the inside!

Folks wake up Clipper is selling a poor quality product and very old school considering today’s technology. Large scale failures in gears and problems in blades have been reported and machines have been stopped early this year, according to press releases. It is not clear whether the defects have been identified. The technology is novel and type tests have been successful, but reasons for problems have not been disclosed.

Clipper’s Liberty 2.5 MW is yet to prove its performance.
