However, such false direction and such a waste of national financial, scientific, and business resources have been possible, because the Oil Lobby has managed to totally obtain control over the US government led by the President's team of old boys. Very intelligently, they've pushed oil prices to the record level of $116 per barrel by use of the US army for their private (pocket)oil interests. If that huge sum of money, which far exceeds $3 trillion, would have been spent on domestic renewable energy sources, the US would have been energy wise totally independent and environmentally transformed and clean. Brand new industries would have created very many new jobs, new expert knowledge, massive export of sustainable products, technologies and knowledge. Combined effects of adequate investments in US national energy independence by use of renewable energy sources, would have created much more long term positive effects, than $3 trillion which has been wasted in Iraq.
