Do you have any references to back up your assertion that producing shale gas does not adversely impact the water supply?

Shale gas wells, exploration and development, despite the protestations of the "crisis, crisis" crowd have had no (none, zero, nada) impact upon the depletion of the major source of water on the plains which is aquifer water. As far back as the 1950's it was already recognized that agricultural and urban exploitation of the aquifer was already having a depletive effect. The excessive use of water from this source is currently drawing down levels at a rate of 2-3 feet per year. The contribution of shale gas exploration and development to this phenomenon? It is not even practically measurable. Environment first people looking for another corporate bogeyman to hound ought to get their facts straight and make sure to take their pills religiously.

Sacrificing water for energy - natural gas - the last straw.
We have a luxury to choose among different sources of energy. But we only have one water. Clean and accessible water should be the stick against which to measure appropriate sources of energy. Everywhere natural gas goes, people are up in arms to protect water from it. In Sacred Headwaters region of north west British Columbia, New York, Nevada, New Mexico, Arctic Chukchi Sea, and in Ontario's Northern York Region, west of Toronto and in central Toronto, proposed natural gas operations sit on major watersheds and waterways.
In addition to climate chaos, loss of local water supplies is a major issue raised in the fight against natural gas.
