I'm all for making the animals last weeks and days not completely horrific. The injustices caused against farm animals is so ghastly, it should be outlawed 100%. Cruelty is inherent to the process, regardless of how much more ´humane´ it becomes. Besides, all animals will get killed in the end. We know we don´t need meat for nutrition so pleasure is the only justification for such barbarity and I don´t think it´s moral. I don't have a problem with people eating meat. But people have to realize what they are eating and how it was raised. If every agribusiness had to publicly account for the treatment of their animals (instead of consumers only getting it through hidden camera footage) and if the media actually showed more of this stuff, animals would be in a better place.
