I’ve been using the Greenwala site for some time now. I think the thing I like best is the fact that everyone has the opportunity to be a blogger and like all things it is as good as what you put in. Hopefully it will continue to grow. I also just noticed that they did launch the new contest section of the site and if you peel back the onion a bit you can see that they are supporting some pretty nice non-profits. I personally would like to see them support some smaller causes just because the big ones can probably get by on their own.

Seems like a good project. I worry that it’s just “yet another social network” appearing when that’s the last thing we need another on of. Then again, being based in Southern California, it’s not as much of a broken record as where I am (SF). Still, will be tough to gain the critical mass of users required to really fly! It’s great to see Greenwala featured on Triple Pundit — I’ve been on the site for a few months now and I really think that my green knowledge has grown in leaps and bounds. Plus, I’ve had a blast swapping tips with the other members and realizing that you can grow as a person and an environmental steward while still having a really good time. Sometimes, my wife has to beat me off of my computer with a really big stick — that is the effect that Greenwala has had on me :)
I think that I could be classified as a lite-green-turned-garden-green variety social networker (now). I knew absolutely nothing about posting comments and writing my own blog articles and participating in community discussions but then a friend mentioned the Greenwala site to me. They said that if I was serious about making a eco-friendly lifestyle transition that being a Greenwala member would give me good reinforcement.
They were absolutely right. Now, my friends ask ME for green tips all the time. It feels really good to be a part of something more purposeful in my life than just being a dad or just being a good friend. Now I’m a citizen environmentalist with the power to enlighten so many other eager greenies.

For a while, I have been a regular blogger on the ‘greenwala’ site. I have been doing this to satisfy my personal social consciousness of living a ‘green life’. I have gained tremendously from like-minded members and I have also tried to communicate my personal beliefs on how best to save the environment. It has been a very rewarding experience for me. Now, the discussion about the ‘for-profit philanthropy’ sheds a new light on the role of for-profit businesses to becoming socially conscious and lending a helping hand to good causes. More of this kind of philanthropy is the call of the time now. The idea of contest is also very appealing. It may just energies the group with a sense of challenge. All the power to Rajeev in this venture/endeavor.

I’ve been a casual fan of Greenwala for a few months, it’s a good site overall, the community content over the past month or so has been terrific. It’s nice to see the community getting recognition. I like the contest idea that Rajeev talks about, it will be interesting to see how that builds out. I will say this, it is refreshing to read his thoughts on For-Profit Philanthropy, they are dead on in my opinion. Hopefully more will follow his lead.
