I'm glad you pointed out that it's totally possible to go green without going broke.Additionally, having a greener environment can actually help business from losing money. Case and point: by improving indoor air quality through the use of air cleaners (http://www.air-purifier-home.com), a business can ensure that fewer employees are likely to get sick, when sick employees mean a reduced work force which means lowered profits.

Great article! It seems like much of the resistance to sustainability comes from a misconception that it is "more expensive" to go green. If we can raise awareness about the inaccuracies of that mentality - we can really encourage green strategies from the bottom up. Kudos to Eric Cohen and padosa.com for motivating the discussion in the right way!

I think many people would be surprised to hear that you can actually get “something done for nothing” in terms of “greening” your business as Eric Cohen points out. Obviously, it's the economy and credit crunch that are the culprits here, as Eric Cohen points out. As an investment person, I listen to many major corporations discuss their green technologies and services, and while conventional financing doors may be closed to small companies, I would not overlook vendor financing possibilities or outright grants that some companies may be willing to make. Wall Street also seems to be adopting the notion that the green wave is real and here to stay, and those that embrace these concepts may very well be afforded premium valuations for their companies. Anything that these companies can do to further profitable adoption of their products and services would be a plus, and if you don't ask, you'll never know.

Very interesting article, and willingness of large corporations to adopt green initiatives versus reluctance of small participants is of course counter-intuitive to what we usually hear about business. This highlights what seems to be the most difficult part of going green for most business owners: getting started. What's great about Padosa.com is that it approaches starting from so many angles and its articles clearly lay out the steps anyone can take to reduce their carbon footprint and make more money.

Great article!
