Harbinger...

Lindzen is a climate scientist, but he hardly has the credibility of Schellnhuber. Perhaps you don't realize that Lindzen is a member of a think tank supported by Exxon, that Exxon has paid him $2,500 per day as a consultant. Perhaps you didn't realize that Lindzen no longer refers to papers he published on water vapor and global warming because they've been largely been shown to be wrong.

In 2004, Lindzen was quoted as saying that the world would be cooler in 20 years, and he'd bet $10,000 as proof of his conviction. He told the first scientist to contact him that he'd only do so if given 50-1 odds, and refused the dozen or so other scientists who tried to make the best.

He also believes that the link between smoking and lung cancer is weak.

Is this really your expert, the best you can do?

Roy Spencer has also worked for groups funded by Exxon, but he's a real scientist, too. It's just that you can find 3 or 4 in the world among climate scientists who think his research is solid, as opposed to the 2,000 or so experts on the IPCC panel.

Just because he shouts loudest doesn't make Schellnhuber one of the foremost climate scientists in the world. He is a political scientist, (physicist, not climatologist) with an agenda which includes global governance, www.glogov.org.

Some of the real foremost climate scientists in the world, such as Richard Lindzen from MIT and Roy Spencer from UAH, disagree totally with Schellnhuber's hysterical claims, but of course they don't make the news.
