Divide and conquer???? Would a carbon tax simplify accounting? Deflect the attention from the carbon producers to the government?

What we know- Exxon will continue to externalize as much as it can. In any way it can. That's their job. No really. The system says their job is to externalize as many costs as possible and focus only on shareholder returns- at the expense of everything and everybody else. Too much focus on the players distracts from the culprit- the system.

"...seems like a step in the right direction."

Though I'm fully supportive of any behemoth wishing to re-steer the ship by even small increments, I'm having trouble believing at this (very) early stage that Tillerson has taken any step at all, let alone one in the "right" direction. His comments are so chocked full of self-serving rhetoric that they belie the very transparency that he professes...and where was this rhetoric BEFORE cap-and-trade hit the Capitol floor?

I'm going to adopt a "wait and see" approach to this action before I'm willing to consider whether it's a step in the right direction veruses another giant leap backwards, though I certainly hope it's the former and applaud any action to that end. It's the land of opportunity for Tillerson to make even MORE money while being more responsible...let's see if he's got the courage to capitalize on it.
