Jatropha curcas has the potential to become one of the world's key energy crops. It’s an interesting plant which requires low input and gives a good oil yield.
Air New Zealand’s successful completion of a commercial airliner that partially run on jatropha biofuel makes it an interesting choice as a fuel in aviation industry.Air France-KLM airliner’s successful flight using 50 percent biofuel mix of jatropha demonstrates that this emerging green fuel will play a vital role in aviation sector.
The effort to “green up” aviation will come true with the usage of jatropha biofuel and the future of jatropha lies in the continuous research and development.
See our report on Jatropha here - http://www.biozio.com/ref/report/jat/jatropha_biodiesel.html

KLM efforts to green up aviation is a great effort.Jatropha based bio fuel will be a viable energy source in the aviation sector.<br

As to ecosystem preservation, bringing in the WWF to monitor that aspect is a very good idea. I hope eco-system impacts from commercial development of aviation biofuel on a large scale will be carefully monitored and reported. It could make a big difference in which biofuel(s) are used by the industry.

Ranle: KLM reports that using bio-kerosene reduces CO2 emissions by as much as 80 percent over regular kerosene.

Richard: See above — that’s a major difference in emissions.<br

Are they significantly less?

I applaud the effort, but did they mention any stats as to the emissions?
