Appliances these days have gotten to the point where they always consume very little amounts of electric a year. I think the yearly electric cost on a washing machine is like $70 or so a year. That’s nothing!

There is already a boom for smart appliances. Better use smart appliances rather those appliances considered as efficient when they are not really efficient. Smart appliances are different because they feature modern sensors that give the appliance a brain of its own. For example, in washing machines, the sensors will be able to tell the amount of load in the washer drum so it can determine the right level of water and right water temperature. This way, it is not as wasteful.
