Dama Kenga Masha has one of the “best farms” in Ganze, according to neighbors. Her husband passed away three years ago, and to sustain a steady income, Dama and others cut down approximately 20 medium-sized indigenous trees each month to make charcoal. They can sell a 50kg bag of charcoal for 200 Ksh (a little over $2)
