Erol Odabasi is Director of Sustainability at Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Devices and Diagnostics division. In our last video from this year’s Sustainable Brands conference, I had a minute to talk to Erol about a valuation model he helped develop to make a business case for sustainability. Specifically, his research has shown that the majority of customers and many suppliers consider sustainability to be a differentiating factor in purchasing decisions. The challenge, therefore, was to assign some range of “worth” to sustainability initiatives so that they can be prioritized. Ultimately, J&J is looking at sustainability as an effective revenue driver.
