Passive design breeds welcoming spaces

This outdoor rooftop courtyard adds a welcoming touch to Siemens’ Middle East headquarters, but, like everything else in Masdar City, it’s also an example of smart and passive design at their best.

An air passage sits in the middle of the fourth-floor courtyard, allowing cool air to flow up from the streets below. Meanwhile, a canopy provides shade while allowing natural sunlight to flow into adjacent offices.
