Today, TriplePundit hosted a Twitter Chat at #SkillsVolunteering with Boehringer Ingelheim and Northeast Hartford Partnership at Community Solutions to discuss how skills-based volunteering programs benefit companies, employees and communities.
Lilly Ackley, president of the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation; Julie Staudenmier, executive director of leadership and organization development at Boehringer Ingelheim; and Gina Federico Muslim, director of the Northeast Hartford Partnership at Community Solutions, addressed how to implement skills-based volunteering programs and the value it brings to employees, companies and nonprofit organizations.
“We started our skills-based volunteering program four years ago through our BI Cares Foundation,” Ackley said. “We wanted to amplify our financial contributions to nonprofit organizations through employee engagement. The program has made a valuable impact, and we are excited to share our key learnings.”
The Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation is focused on improving healthcare access and enhancing STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education, with a focus on underserved individuals and communities. The Foundation’s partnership with nonprofit Community Solutions was explored during the #SkillsVolunteering chat.
“Our team at Community Solutions has convened a broad coalition of partners to tackle some of the hardest issues around health,” Federico Muslim noted. “In the course of that work, we have been grateful to form a partnership with the Boehringer Ingelheim Cares Foundation that breaks the mold of the traditional funder-fundee relationship.”
