Is schadenfreude a sin? Well, sue me. The Hummer, including the "less bad" H3 model, is selling so poorly that excess Hummers are piling up in remote lots because there's no room for them at dealers. Sleuthing bloggers from "The Mess that Greenspan Made" have uncovered a semi-secret series of parking lots in Southern California where upwards of 300 unsold Hummers sit and fester. It's a hilarious story, but it's also a dismal wake-up call for GM who probably could have anticipated this if they'ed thought about it for a minute.
What's the scrap value of 300 Hummers?
I'm so happy right now --
I feel the exact same way green LA Girl:-)
Once these hummers get scrapped, I'm hoping Flexcar'll be able to take advantage of the freed-up parking lot space --
The post is a hoax intended as satire. Read the follow -up at the Mess Greenspan Made. H3s are selling quite well, and a sales of hybrids took a dip when gas prices started sinking again.
Oh. Now I'm a little depressed :(
Hummers are amazing. I hate the enviornment. Who cares i won't be around to see it get screwed over.
hummers are bad they suck, they consume to much oil and create way more polution for our world. There muder's they kill animals that live in the amozon, they destroy the amazon hummers are the worst kind of car, they shouldn't be allowed on the roads even better they should'nt be build, i hope with this you realise why bad humers are and take action, take action now!!!
i like to dump my oil in the back yard creek.
Hummer are not actually that bad they only get bad gas mileage. they worst car by far is the Toyota Prius. Building a Toyota Prius is more enviromentally taxing then driving a Hummer for three times the operational life expctance of a prius. The following information is available from Central Connecticut State University.
-Toyota Prius batteries are made from nickle smelted at a plant in Ontario. The resulting process has destroyed all life for so many miles around that NASA uses the "dead space" as it is affectionately called to test moon rovers.
-“The acid rain around Sudbury was so bad it destroyed all the plants and the soil slid down off the hillside,” said Canadian Greenpeace energy-coordinator David Martin
-The nickel produced by this disastrous plant is shipped via massive container ship to the largest nickel refinery in Europe. From there, the nickel hops over to China to produce ‘nickel foam.’ From there, it goes to Japan. Finally, the completed batteries are shipped to the United States, finalizing the around-the-world trip required to produce a single Prius battery
-a study by CNW Marketing called “Dust to Dust,” the total combined energy is taken from all the electrical, fuel, transportation, materials (metal, plastic, etc) and hundreds of other factors over the expected lifetime of a vehicle. The Prius costs an average of $3.25 per mile driven over a lifetime of 100,000 miles - the expected lifespan of the Hybrid.
The Hummer, on the other hand, costs a more fiscal $1.95 per mile to put on the road over an expected lifetime of 300,000 miles. That means the Hummer will last three times longer than a Prius and use less combined energy doing it.
So which is more enviromentally friendly?
you all are a bunch of idiots when it comes to hummers. The h3, orat least mine consumes no more fuel than any other mid sized suv. Give me a break, lighten up
