Roehl Transport, Inc., a top 100 U.S. trucking fleet and ATDynamics, Inc., the leading global supplier of semi-trailer rear-drag reducing aerodynamics technology announced today that Roehl will expand its investment in TrailerTail® aerodynamics technology. Roehl will install 500 TrailerTails on new trailers ordered from Wabash National in 2013. Roehl Transport began testing TrailerTail in 2012 with an initial deployment of 100 TrailerTails.
“Roehl’s on-road testing confirmed the fuel savings benefit and durability of TrailerTail technology. Drivers understand that in addition to saving fuel, aerodynamic trailers are safer, handle better in high winds and reduce dangerous road spray,” said Rick Roehl, President of Roehl Transport.
“Roehl has successfully served its customers for over 50 years through its commitment to customer service, technology innovation and safety,” said Kyle Houston, Vice President of Sales for ATDynamics. “We are privileged to provide our TrailerTail technology to such a respected leader in the trucking industry.”
The deployment of 500 additional TrailerTails by Roehl will offset the fuel consumption and carbon emissions equivalent to taking approximately 500 passenger vehicles off the road. This is a powerful demonstration of Roehl’s commitment to fuel efficiency and environmental responsibility.
Shipping companies and the general public will see Roehl’s new trailers with TrailerTails circulating throughout the national highway network starting in July. Based on current fleet demand and the example set by high efficiency fleets like Roehl, ATDynamics projects 50,000 fuel saving TrailerTails will circulate US highways by 2014.
