Masdar’s Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

Held annually in the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is one of the largest sustainability gatherings in the world – drawing more than 30,000 participants from 150 countries.

Organized by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, the week-long event includes the World Future Energy Summit, International Water Summit and the inaugural EcoWASTE summit – new for 2014.

  • Elvia Almachi, 32, holds a bundle of recently harvested Fair Trade-certified roses. Elvia has been working at Agrogana for 12 years, and has been part of the Fair Trade committee. She has two daughters, 9 and 12. Elvia and her husband Luis Alberto Villegas, also an Agrogana employee, both participate in the weekend adult school program paid by the Fair Trade Premium.
