Lineup Includes Obama’s Social Innovation Leaders
Recently announced, the Director of the Obama administration’s new Office of Social Innovation, Sonal Shah, will keynote the first day of SOCAP09. Administration members will also attend the “unconference” day to learn from investors and entrepreneurs how the government can partner with social entrepreneurs and impact investors.

More than 100 Speakers have Confirmed

SOCAP09_150px_W.gifThe conference promises to bring together an unparalleled group of speakers to make sense of the diverse and growing social capital market. Speakers and panel discussions will cover everything from basics to deep dives and explore what’s working, what’s broken, and what’s yet to be built.
These challenging economic times means the social capital market is changing rapidly, making it difficult to understand where it’s headed. Skoll Foundation’s Dan Crisafulli, Monitor Institute’s Amit Bouri, and investor, entrepreneur Charly Kleissner will offer insights into the direction of this rapidly developing arena: How big will the market be in 2010? Where will it grow fastest? Who will lag, who will survive, and who will thrive?
BeDo will discuss the growing opportunities for social intrapreneurs: individuals who work from the inside, pushing their companies to consider ethical and environmental impact in business strategies.
Philanthropic funders and non-profits are developing new approaches that leverage the tools and resources of the capital markets to enhance their impact. And they’re partnering with investors in entirely new ways to scale their initiatives. A variety of leading philanthropists and non-profits will discuss their leading-edge strategies – including innovative case studies – to change the traditional paradigm of philanthropic giving.
New Opportunities for Social Capital
The economic meltdown of 2008 has led to new ways of thinking about money in 2009. At SOCAP09, wealth managers who straddle traditional and social capital markets will explore the opportunity that the economic crisis has created for social capital markets.
Venture capitalist and Acumen Fund board member Stuart Davidson, along with top entrepreneurs and fund managers, will relate tales from the fundraising trenches: What’s it like to raise money for impact investing in the worst market of the past 50 years? Who’s buying now, and what’s resonating with them?

Triple Pundit Will be There…Will You?

SOCAP09 will run from September 1-3 in San Francisco. For the second year, TriplePundit will be a media sponsor, blogging and tweeting live from the conference. Between then and now, we will feature a “Roadmap to SOCAP” series leading up to the event – check back often for more coverage. And don’t forget to take advantage of early registration before July 8th!
