Life Cycle Analysis and CSR Reports are now mainstream parts of the business lexicon. However, decision making based on these reports continue to be disparate from the bottom line driven businesses. This video interview from the recent Going Green 2010 conference with Chris Erickson of Climate Earth profiles their platform for integrating the environmental bottom line into the profit and loss language of today’s business. Climate Earth has worked with companies from Webcor, to Del Monte to PG&E to help them determine their environmental footprint and make double bottom line driven decisions up and down their supply chains. For example, the platform maps each product line’s carbon impact per dollar versus total sales. When environmental impact is put in these terms, managers are able to make real decisions that drive better environmental and profit performances. Speaking the language of business creates real and lasting impact for a better environment.
