Pedestrian focused for maximum efficiency


Unlike the bustling streets of downtown Abu Dhabi, which decidedly favor cars and can leave pedestrians searching for a crosswalk, Masdar City is intentionally walkable.

Streets are narrow to allow maximum shading between buildings, and visitors are encouraged to park their cars and walk – with the help of an underground transit system of driverless cars.
