The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Government of Jamaica, the World Bank Group and the Inter-American Development Bank will co-host a Conference on Jobs and Inclusive Growth on 27-29 November in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Under the theme ‘Partnerships for Sustainable Tourism’, the event will assess and discuss the future of the sector in the Caribbean, particularly in view of the impacts of natural disasters such as Hurricane Irma. TriplePundit’s Leon Kaye will be attending and covering the conference.
The conference will yield practical plans to guide future sustainable development initiatives during and following the United Nations 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development. Discussions will focus on challenges such as specific development proposals and opportunities related to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17, which calls for revitalizing the global partnership for sustainable development.
