Cheap Online Video Can be Award-Winning Online Video

By 3p Contributor

The following is a guest post by our friends at Fenton who are attending the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship conference this week.

By Hugh McMullen, Fenton

Earlier this week at the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship Conference, the Center named Cummins winner of its annual Film Festival for the story of the company's engineers working with a village in India to create an electric generator that runs on the inedible seeds that are abundant on the mountain on which they live.

As I chatted with Cummins' Director of Global Community Development Carole Casto, someone walked up to congratulate her and say how much they wished their company had the budget to make such a great video. She replied that she barely had a budget for the project - she just sent some inexpensive Flip cameras to engineers in India participating in the project and edited the stills and footage in-house. She even narrated the video herself!

Carole's success illustrates something we tell folks about online video and communicating online in general: it's often less about technology and more about trusting and enabling your employees, grantees, shareholders to help tell the story of your organization.

The Fenton SHARE program is an opportunity for leaders in CSR to shine a light on their valuable programs and spread the important conversations they’re having outside of conference ballrooms and meeting halls. Fenton specializes in building unique and authentic platforms for Good Business that inspire action – and accelerates progress. We believe that the best corporate responsibility programs both do good and are good for your bottom line.
