Firms not helping staff to engage

Nearly two-thirds of UK businesses have admitted they do not provide good support for their employees to volunteer.

Research by YouGov, on behalf of the volunteering charity v, has found that while there is strong demand from employees to engage more with their local communities, only a third of managers said their company provides support for them to do so.

Terry Ryall, chief executive of v, said there is a ‘disconnect’ between demand for volunteering and the ability of UK businesses to deliver.
