Companies that are normally reticent about their sustainability achievements will begin to communicate them more boldly in 2011.
That's the prediction of the Verdantix analyst firm, which says many strong CSR performers 'will give up on green muting' during the next year.
Verdantix says there are many companies such as Hewlett-Packard and the John Lewis Partnership that have 'solid sustainability strategies' but have traditionally held back on communicating all of their achievements. However, pressure is now building 'for more granular, frequent and transparent disclosures' so that during 2011 demands from mainstream audiences such as equity analysts and civil servants will oblige them to be more communicative.
The scenario is one of ten predictions for sustainable business in 2011 made by Verdantix last month.
It also argues that during 2011 chief financial officers will increasingly be pulled into decision making on sustainability matters, in search of savings for their company.
