The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) received a grant from Walmart to conduct a city-by-city initiative tailored to Hispanic entrepreneurs and helping them "go green". TriplePundit contributor Bill Roth, author of The Green Secret Sauce, will spearhead the campaign, developing one day workshops and coaching programs for Hispanic entrepreneurs.
The goal of the program is to "help Hispanic entrepreneurs realize the tremendous business benefits of sustainability while also helping reduce their impact on the environment," according to Andrea Thomas, Senior VP of sustainability at Walmart.
“Walmart has to be given credit for thinking outside the box on how to engage stakeholders on their key business issues of building a world class business and resource efficiency," said Roth. "The global scale of Walmart’s sustainability initiatives are driving global change toward increased resource efficiency and a lower environmental footprint. Walmart is to be commended for reaching out to the Hispanic community to enable for them the type of success their company is achieving in adopting sustainable best practices.”
Roth has been the Green Business Coach for Entrepreneur.com, and is President of NCCT, a San Francisco-based consulting firm helping businesses define and integrate sustainability into their strategies, performance metrics, and processes.
The workshops will kick off in Milwaukee, WI, and traverse 11 cities in the U.S. this year.
