A ‘controversial weapons monitor’ has been launched by the oekom research firm, allowing investors to review shares or bonds held in potentially risky companies.
Banks and other financial institutions will also be able to review the lending and insurance services they offer.
So far oekom has identified 400 companies from around the world suspected of manufacturing controversial weapons such as land mines, biological weapons and cluster bombs, of which 200 cases have been ‘substantiated’ and included in the database.
