Amnesty & Greenpeace target Trafigura

By 3p Contributor

Amnesty International and Greenpeace have urged that oil trading company Trafigura faces criminal investigation in the UK for its role in the 2006 dumping of toxic waste in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. Their move coincided with the publication of The Toxic Truth, the report of a three-year investigation into the company’s management of the Probo Koala tanker and its toxic cargo. They also challenge the legality of a settlement between Trafigura and the Ivorian government that effectively removed the threat of prosecution over the dumping.
