Barrick Gold sets up advisory board

Barrick Gold has set up a CSR advisory board to guide it on social responsibility, with John Ruggie appointed as special consultant to the board. The rest of the Canadian gold mining company’s new team are: Aron Cramer, president of Business for Social Responsibility; Elizabeth Dowdeswell, chief executive of the Council of Canadian Academies and director of the United Nations Environment Program; Canadian diplomat Robert Fowler; Ed Liebow, director of the Seattle-based Center for Public Health Research & Evaluation; and Gare Smith, senior partner at the law firm Foley Hoag. All members will provide advice in an individual capacity.
