BP is to introduce measures strengthening its supply chain management in the wake of the Gulf of Mexico disaster. As a result of a review launched after the spill in 2010, the oil multinational will introduce safety performance indicators and, most significantly, begin a process of blacklisting exploration and production contractors that fail to comply with their standards. The company says it wants to pursue “deeper, longer relationships” with suppliers, and work “collaboratively” with them to maintain safety standards.
