Co-op calls for pesticide risk review

The Co-operative Group, supported by Pan UK, has urged environment secretary Owen Paterson to call an immediate review of the science that underpins the UK risk assessment procedure for neonicotinoid pesticides. Pan UK has alerted supermarkets to concerns over the safety of a class of pesticides known as neonicotinoids, as well as evidence that the current risk assessment regime ignores several potentially serious exposure routes for bees and other pollinating species.
