Work is continuing on establishing the UK professional body for CSR practitioners (EP, November 2011, p8), with its launch now pencilled in for the autumn. The Corporate Responsibility Group is creating the body and board member Jennie Galbraith – who is also International Sustainability Manager at British American Tobacco – confirmed that the model has been developed and tested. As part of preparations for the new body, which has the working title of CRGPro, the CRG has assumed responsibility for the CSR competency framework from Business in the Community, and has been involved in development work with KPMG and education and media company Pearson. Said Jennie: “We always knew this was going to be a big project and the timeframes have slipped. But everyone working on this are doing so in their spare time and it has been a huge task. The whole objective is to bring credibility to the CSR profession and we are close to where we want to be on this.”
