Fairtrade partners with African gold miners

By 3p Contributor

The Fairtrade Foundation has begun partnerships with gold miners in Africa for the first time, with the aim of expanding its Fairtrade Gold brand launched last year. The certification scheme, which established the gold label with miners in Latin America, will work to limit environmental damage and improve working conditions with small-scale operations in Keyna, Tanzania and Uganda. Certified products from the mines could arrive in the UK as soon as 2014.
