Fury over 'supersize' drinks ban

By 3p Contributor

The US drinks industry is suing  New York mayor Michael Bloomberg’s administration over its ban on the sale of ‘supersized’ cartons of sodas and sugary drinks. The American Beverage Association filed the lawsuit in an attempt to block the ban, due to come into force next spring, claiming it will harm thousands of small businesses in the city. Bloomberg supports the ban to help reduce obesity and related health problems, but opponents, including Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, fear it will harm their products’ reputation and that other cities will follow New York’s lead.
