McDonalds & Burger King take ethical farming stance

By 3p Contributor

Olympics main food sponsor McDonald’s is phasing out the use of gestation stalls in its US pork supply. It aims to source all pork for its US business from producers that do not use gestation stalls to house pregnant sows by the end of 2022. McDonald’s plans to work with pork producers to develop traceability systems that verify the source of pork and assess how to help producers make the switch. Meanwhile, Burger King has pledged to eliminate the use of caged chickens and pigs for its US egg and pork products by 2017.
