Warburtons makes palm oil pledge

By 3p Contributor

British bread-maker Warburtons has pledged to use 100% sustainable palm oil in its products by 2015. The baking company, which currently uses around a thousand tonnes of the ingredient per year, is the latest company to make such a commitment on palm oil, which has been embroiled in controversy over concerns about environmental destruction for years. Though Warburtons says it remains open to alternatives to palm oil itself, it claims to have no other option at present than to pursue a traceable, sustainable supply of the product.
