Best Buy’s Edmond wins corporate ethics award

By 3p Contributor
Kathleen Edmond, chief ethics officer for Best Buy, is the recipient of this year’s Carol R. Marshall Award.

Established last year as a posthumous honour to former Ethics Resource Centre (ERC) board member Carol R. Marshall, the award recognizes a chief ethics and compliance officer for innovation and leadership in building or enhancing a corporate ethics and compliance program.

Edmond joined Best Buy in 2002 and took on the task of building the company’s ethics office. In her role, Edmond has many duties include determining appropriateness of company-wide ethics strategy, chairing the Ethics Committee, and communicating Best Buy’s ethics and business conduct standards to all employees and business partners.

“The purpose of this award is to honour the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officers who are bringing new innovations to their organizations,”  said ERC President Patricia Harned. “This year we sought the input of key people in our field to identify a worthy recipient for the award. One name came up many times - Kathleen Edmond.”
