Chrysler revs up for wildlife

Chrysler Group LLC received international recognition recently for its commitment to environmental stewardship at the Wildlife Habitat Council’s (WHC) 25th Annual Symposium, Celebrating Corporate Conservation. The company achieved Wildlife at Work certification for its Chrysler Group World Headquarters and Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Mich.

The Chrysler Group World Headquarters and Technology Center is located in an expansive wooded setting with wetlands on a 465-acre site roughly 30 miles north of Detroit, Mich. A wide variety of wildlife species have been observed on the site, including great blue heron, double-crested cormorant, wood duck, cottontail rabbit, and Blanding’s turtle. The facility includes a 1.5-mile nature trail as well as an activities area.

The facility is adjacent to Galloway Creek, which serves as a tributary to the Clinton River, the centre of Michigan’s most populous watershed and home to over 1.4m people. The river has a major impact on the water quality of Lake St. Clair, which supplies drinking water to millions of southeast Michigan residents.
