Chrysler Group LLC in partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) are working together to bring greater awareness to the need for better health and wellness education in underserved multicultural communities.
The initiative officially began last month and comprises of two phases. The first phase was a 30-day Wellness Challenge where members competed against one another, sporting pedometers that tracked each participant’s steps. The reward for most steps included scholarship dollars the organisations can use to support aspiring journalists.
In the second phase, Chrysler Group is hosting a health pavilion at the NABJ and NAHJ national conventions. The pavilions will touch many key areas of wellness, including health screenings, strategies for reducing stress, exercise and nutrition, all areas identified as concerns in the Black and Hispanic communities.
