At this year's GRI conference, I had the opportunity to talk to James Van Langen and Elaine Heldewier about the history of CSR reporting at Carnival Corporation - the parent company of Holland America, Carnival Cruises and others. In fact, Carnival is responsible for more than 50 percent of the world's cruise capacity. James and Elaine explained to me that Carnival first began reporting in response to a government mandate - a common beginning in some industries.
Since then, a full time sustainability director position has been filled, and CSR reporting has been enthusiastically embraced by the company. Learn more in the video below....
