James Gowen is Verizon's Chief Sustainability Officer. I had a chance to meet him at Fortune Brainstorm Green last week and talk a little bit about his role at the company as well as some of the exciting things he's working on.

The big news of the moment is the company's hundred-million-dollar investment in solar and fuel cell energy systems for no less than 19 company buildings around the country. It's a gigantic project that will generate more than 70 million kwh of electricity and eliminate as much as 10,000 metric tons of CO2.
