New OECD working party chair

By 3p Contributor

Dr Roel Nieuwenkamp has started as chair of the new OECD working party on Responsible Business Conduct. This unique intergovernmental working party is dedicated to corporate responsibilty issues. It is responsible for the implementation of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the only intergovernmental standard on CSR with a grievance mechanism.

As chair Nieuwenkamp will dedicate his time to promoting the OECD Guidelines, and providing leadership to the Pro Active Agenda, which consists of Due Diligence programmes, related, for example, to conflict minerals, the financial sector, and responsible mining.

Previously, Nieuwenkamp was international director of trade policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Netherlands.
