Sustainability ratings boost business commitment to CR

By 3p Contributor

Sustainable investments and sustainability ratings have been proved to be an important lever for motivating companies to make a greater commitment to sustainable development, according to a new study.

Close to two-thirds of the companies surveyed by oekom research, reported that requests from sustainability rating agencies were a decisive factor in prompting them to tackle the issue of sustainability. Thirty per cent of the companies surveyed said that their performance in sustainability ratings affects management remuneration.

Given that over €10 trillion is currently being invested worldwide by sustainability-oriented investors using a variety of SRI strategies, the results make valuable reading.

Of the sustainable investment strategies used, companies said the greatest influence is the best-in-class approach.
