Video Interview: Bridget Luther, Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute

This year's SB13 conference was full of references to Cradle to Cradle. C2C is an approach to product design that considers all material inputs and outputs to be thought of as nutrients in the larger natural system. The idea is to create products that are not just efficient, but are essentially waste-free and which actually "give something back" at the end of their life.
Bill McDonough popularized the term in his 2002 book, Cradle to Cradle, and co-founded the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute to advance the concept. The institute has product standards to which any designer can aspire - including a LEED-style certification from basic to platinum.
I had a chance to talk briefly with Bridget Luther, who is president of the institute to learn more about the Cradle to Cradle certification and how it has emerged as something both good for the environment and good for business.
