Blogging Contest: Fancy a Trip to Masdar City in Abu Dhabi?

As you may recall TriplePundit has developed a strong relationship with the folks at Masdar in the United Arab Emirates and we've covered developments in the UAE and the gulf region with great interest over the last three years.   Now's your chance to travel to Abu Dhabi to see what's happening yourself.

Masdar has launched its third annual Engage Blogging Contest, which offers an excellent chance to visit Abu Dhabi, and of course, Masdar City, during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. The winner will have an all-expenses paid trip to Abu Dhabi the week of January 19, 2015, and will be Masdar’s guest blogger during this important event that brings about 35,000 professionals from all over the world annually.

Here's how to enter:

This year’s theme, “Describe the Ideal City in 2030,” gives participants the opportunity to be creative in predicting how his or city will look 15 years from now. Based on what you see unfolding in urban planning, along with developments in water, waste, energy, food production and transportation, what do you think your city will look like in 2030? Contestants are encouraged to be creative: the topics and trends just mentioned are just a few ideas of how your city could evolve over the next decade and a half. Just write 500 to 600 words answering this question:

“Describe your city in 2030: what will occur due to changes in energy, transportation and water technologies? live?”

So who should enter? Really anyone who is interested in sustainability, green building, smart cities and clean technologies should throw his or her hat into the ring. The contest welcomes entries from students and professionals who are keen on being part of one of the world’s largest most sustainability events—and the largest in the Middle East. Last year’s winner, an architect in New York City, in part inspired this year’s theme. What is most important is the overall quality and creativity of your post; other factors, including the voting on Masdar’s page, as well as mentions in social media, will also factor into the equation of finding a winner.

Simply write your post, and if you have a blog, cross-post it on your site and be sure to link it to this page. Leave a comment on that page linking back to your blog, and do not forget to mention the Masdar Engage Blogging Contest in your post. If you do not have a blog, that is fine; you can send a draft to press@masdar.ae. Qualifying posts will be posted on Masdar’s Engage page, and will be accepted until January 2, 2015, at midnight EST.
