DHL receives eco-seal

By 3p Contributor

Seal of approval… Deutsche Post DHL has become the first logistics company to receive the ‘Green Brands’ eco-seal for its Group-wide environmental protection programme GoGreen. The quality seal internationally recognizes brands that have proven their commitment to the practice and communication of environmental sustainability internally and externally in a way that is both transparent and verifiable. Deutsche Post DHL introduced its first environmentally-friendly products to the market as early as 2006 before launching GoGreen in 2008.

The overarching goal of the programme is to improve Group-wide carbon efficiency by 30% by the year 2020. By 2012 Deutsche Post DHL had already achieved a 16% gain in carbon efficiency. GoGreen involves products and services as well as the ongoing optimization of transport routes and networks, improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings, implementation of innovative technologies, mobilization of employees and involvement of subsidiaries, subcontractors and customers.

An international organization headquartered in Ireland, Green Brands has developed a three-stage selection process for identifying and recognizing companies, products and initiatives. It awards its eco-seal in cooperation with independent institutions from the environmental/climate protection and sustainability sector, as well as with market and opinion research institutes.
