Karl Wilding, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations’ (NCVO) director of public policy, has been appointed as a non-executive director of Charity Bank. Wilding will continue his role at NCVO, where he leads the organisation’s policy, research and campaigning work in the UK and internationally.
George Blunden, Chairman of Charity Bank, says, “With lead responsibility at the NCVO for shaping the external environment for the voluntary sector, Karl is steeped in the knowledge of the big issues facing voluntary organisations. He is hugely respected in the sector and I am delighted that Charity Bank will be able to harness his expertise. This will help to make sure that we are at the forefront of understanding changing sector requirements as the Bank grows.
“Charity Bank is aiming to increase the amount it lends because of the unmet borrowing needs in the charitable sector. Karl brings with him another layer of knowledge that will aid our vision of a world where social purpose organisations have the financial resources they need to create a better society for all.”
Wilding commented: “Charity Bank is quite simply a brilliant idea, connecting people who want to put their savings to work in a socially useful way with organisations who will use them to scale-up their impact. And all through a group of committed staff who are in it for the long term and for the public benefit.
“With plans to grow and develop, and a public benefit mission at heart, now couldn’t be a better time to join Charity Bank.”
