Newmark steps down as minister for civil society

Recently appointed minister for civil society Brooks Newmark has resigned following Sunday Mirror allegations he shared sexually explicit images of himself with an undercover reporter over social media.

His resignation comes on the eve of the Conservative party conference.

Newmark took over from Nick Hurd, the UK government minister who oversaw the birth of the world’s first social investment bank, in this summer's Cabinet reshuffle.
