The Japanese Omron Corporation, a global leader in automation, sensing and control technology, has established a CSR management headquarters at its base in Kyoto. Omron, which adopted the motto 'At work for a better life, a better world for all' in 1959, says it is taking the long-term view of CSR in its Grand Design for 2010.
The new initiative will concentrate on corporate governance, compliance with the law, corporate ethics, internal control and environmental management, and various corporate citizenship activities. Omron has also become the first Japanese company to join the Global Leadership Network, which has prominent international groups as members, including IBM and General Electric.
The CSR management headquarters will be under the direct control of the company president and chief executive, Hisao Sakuta.
