Times wins Indian award

By 3p Contributor
India's 2004 Golden Peacock award for CSR has gone to the Times Foundation, the development arm of the Times Group publishing house. The award was presented at India's first national CSR conference. The awards, made by the country's Institute of Directors, are aimed at highlighting the importance of CSR in today's business climate.

Other award winners were Tata Motors, ONGC and the Rail Wheel Factory.

Speakers at the conference pointed out that India, which boasts of being a software power, has the highest number of hungry people in the world and that the corporate sector has only minimal awareness of the real meaning of CSR.
